Duluth Trading Company has moved to leverage Amazon's fulfillment infrastructure for marketplace orders. Under the wholesale arrangement, Amazon assumes control of inventory, shipping and returns for Duluth products sold on its site, according to comments made during a June 8 investor briefing. The workwear retailer's senior vice president and chief financial officer Heena Agrawal outlined the model, noting that Amazon orders inventory as products sell through. The partnership allows Duluth to capitalize on Prime shipping's popularity while freeing resources to prioritize its direct-to-consumer website and physical store locations. Duluth Trading has prior wholesale relationships with Tractor Supply and Costco. The retailer previously sold through Amazon using in-house inventory management but opted to return to the platform after observing strong search interest among Amazon shoppers for its products.
