The Dutch House of Representatives has adopted a motion to expand freighter capacity at Schiphol Airport through revised slot distribution procedures. Beginning with the 2026 winter season, Airport Coordination Netherlands will reallocate returned slots before each season starts, rather than waiting for mid-season cancellations. The change addresses longstanding bottlenecks that have constrained cargo operators, particularly during peak months in November and December. Evofendex, representing Dutch logistics interests, welcomed the shift as critical for high-value export companies and the nation's air cargo competitiveness. Under the previous system, slots became available too late in the season for cargo operators to plan effectively. The new approach mirrors successful practices at major international hubs like Heathrow, creating additional capacity for full freighter operations within Schiphol's existing movement limits.
