Ethiopian Airlines has committed to purchasing 10 Boeing freighters, consisting of eight 777-8F and two 777F aircraft. The order positions Ethiopian as the first African airline to acquire the next-generation 777-8F model. The 777-8F offers a maximum structural payload of 118 tonnes, while the 777F carries 107 tonnes. Ethiopian currently operates 12 777Fs, two 767Fs, and four 737-800SFs. Group Chief Executive Mesfin Tasew said the acquisition will expand cargo capacity and operational flexibility. The aircraft will serve growing international demand and strengthen Ethiopia's role as a key cargo hub connecting African and global markets. Boeing's Brad McMullen cited the order as validation of the 777 and 777X freighter family and the manufacturer's long-standing partnership with the carrier.
