The Federal Reserve Bank of New York signaled Monday that the central bank maintains discretion over Treasury bill purchases, with decisions contingent on evolving market conditions rather than predetermined targets.

Roberto Perli, speaking for the New York Fed, emphasized the institution will continue assessing reserve levels. This flexibility underscores the Fed's commitment to responding dynamically to financial market developments.

The statement comes as central banks globally reassess policy trajectories. Nigeria's monetary authority implemented its steepest rate cut since 2007, while Hungary paused consecutive rate reductions to evaluate inflation targets ahead of potential euro adoption. European Central Bank officials warned that energy price pressures may prolong elevated inflation across the euro zone beyond previous forecasts.
