Immigration and law enforcement officials are conducting joint operations at commercial truck weigh stations nationwide. These operations target drivers operating with invalid credentials. The Department of Homeland Security is partnering with the Department of Transportation and state police to catch commercial drivers with improperly issued licenses, according to statements from DHS leadership. More than 28,000 non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses have been revoked across the country as part of the crackdown. Agents are working directly with state troopers during routine inspections to locate drivers continuing to operate after losing their commercial driving privileges. The effort faces complications obtaining driver records from certain states, prompting the Department of Justice to pursue legal action against jurisdictions withholding information. Recent enforcement operations in Texas, Arizona and California have already yielded immigration arrests, safety citations and out-of-service orders. One Arizona stop uncovered a driver operating without a commercial license, highlighting safety gaps in enforcement.
