A federal lawsuit against Uber Freight, Amazon Logistics, CH Robinson, JB Hunt, RXO, TQL, and Convoy/Flexport is escalating into allegations of widespread blacklisting and rate opacity in the trucking industry. Georgia owner-operator David Worrell filed the case claiming defendants systematically hide freight payments from carriers while retaining undisclosed margins. The lawsuit centers on 49 CFR §371.3, a brokerage regulation requiring brokers to maintain transaction records and disclose them to carriers upon request. Allegations include hidden portions of freight payments, failed rate disclosures to carriers, undisclosed rebrokering practices, and opaque digital marketplace systems that suppress trucker compensation. The case addresses long-standing complaints among US owner-operators. Large freight brokers and digital platforms control load access while carriers lack visibility into actual shipper rates and broker margins.
