Federal authorities have charged a driver in connection with an alleged cargo theft scheme. The conspiracy involved at least 24 freight shipments valued at millions of dollars. Prosecutors say suspects gained control of established trucking companies and assumed their identities to secure freight contracts with brokers. The operation, which began around September 2025, targeted interstate shipments originating from California and other locations. Drivers collected merchandise from distribution facilities but never delivered the cargo to intended destinations. Nursulton Khaydarov, 33, a lawful permanent resident from Uzbekistan, was charged in federal court in Connecticut on October 21. Investigators determined that thefts associated with Khaydarov exceeded $12 million in retail value. According to prosecutors, participants purchased existing trucking businesses or assumed operational control, then impersonated previous owners to negotiate transportation agreements with freight brokers.
