FedEx leadership expressed confidence in its competitive position against Amazon's newly launched third-party logistics platform. Amazon Supply Chain Services, announced in May, faces significant limitations according to CEO Raj Subramaniam. Speaking to CNBC, Subramaniam said Amazon cannot replicate FedEx's global network capabilities. A true logistics network enables pickup and delivery anywhere globally within days, requiring infrastructure that Amazon has not developed. Amazon's offering operates as a non-asset 3PL service, differing fundamentally from FedEx's integrated model. FedEx maintains long-term customer contracts in its 3PL division, which represents a smaller portion of overall operations. Amazon Supply Chain Services launched with major clients including Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End, and American Eagle Outfitters. The platform provides freight, distribution, fulfillment, and parcel services supported by 100 aircraft, 80,000 trailers, and 24,000 intermodal containers.
