FedEx Express pilots have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement, with 83% voting in favor of the deal. The ratification concludes nearly five years of negotiations between the carrier and the Air Line Pilots Association representing the FedEx Master Executive Council. The contract affects more than 5,000 pilots and addresses compensation, retirement benefits, scheduling, work rules, and job protections. FedEx and ALPA reached a tentative agreement in April. The agreement was subsequently approved by the MEC before going to a ratification vote. The agreement becomes effective June 29. "This ratification reflects the collective decision of the pilot group," said Jose Nieves, MEC chair. FedEx COO Richard Smith called the agreement a "positive milestone" that recognizes crew contributions while supporting the carrier's growth strategy.
