FedEx to Build $150M Automated Cargo Hub at Delhi Airport

FedEx is constructing a major integrated air cargo facility at GMR Cargo City within Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The $150 million investment will span 230,000 square feet and consolidate international gateway and pickup-and-delivery operations under one roof, streamlining logistics across northern and eastern India. Upon completion, the facility will process up to 5,000 packages hourly—a significant increase from current 600-package capacity—with room for future expansion. The hub features advanced auto-sorting systems, next-generation X-ray screening and intelligent package-handling technologies designed to strengthen network reliability and customer service. FedEx leadership cited India's importance to its global network, particularly as trade and e-commerce activity accelerates across North and East India. GMR Cargo City's Phase 1 development spans approximately 30 acres across 1 million square feet, with construction commencing shortly.
