Fiji Water temporarily launched its own ocean shipping service when traditional carrier capacity became unreliable during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wonderful Co. acquired shipping and logistics operator Neptune Pacific in 2007 and deployed a dedicated vessel to maintain supply chain continuity. The East Coast service connected Fiji to Philadelphia, Houston and Savannah, Georgia, providing direct routes when vessel space and reliable capacity were difficult to secure through standard channels. Neptune Pacific President Kim Kristensen said the owned-and-operated model gave the company critical control over its logistics chain during the crisis. Multiple voyages operated until global shipping capacity normalized. The service is no longer active. Kristensen presented the case study at the 2026 Agriculture Transportation Coalition's Annual Meeting, highlighting how shippers can maintain connectivity in volatile market conditions.
