Fraud Ring Hits 12 Saskatchewan Trucking Firms With Fake Card Scheme

Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating a credit card fraud operation targeting heavy-duty trucking and transportation businesses across Saskatchewan. Fraudsters placed telephone orders for truck tires, engine oil and trailer parts, providing credit card information that initially appeared approved. Companies shipped products via courier before payments declined, leaving them without compensation. The investigation launched in March following reports from across the province. Affected businesses operated in Battleford, Weyburn, Hudson Bay, Kindersley, Biggar, Assiniboia, White Butte, Moosomin, Cudworth and Onion Lake. Police say the scheme extends beyond Saskatchewan into Western Canada, with multiple jurisdictions now cooperating. No charges have been filed. Authorities urge businesses to verify caller identity before processing payments and avoid relying on caller ID alone. Police also caution against accepting multiple cards after an initial payment method fails.
