Global Crossing Airlines filed suit against Ascent Global Logistics in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, alleging the former investment partner breached an exclusive freight brokerage agreement by diverting charter work to USA Jet Airlines instead of the Miami-based carrier.
Global Crossing seeks $30 million in damages, claiming Ascent deliberately undermined its cargo operations by assigning hundreds of flights to USA Jet while offering only token work to Global Crossing. The dispute stems from a May 2023 agreement making Ascent the exclusive broker for expedited, on-demand freight in North American manufacturing.
Ascent, ranked 35th among domestic transportation management firms by gross revenue, divested its Global Crossing shares last year. Global Crossing operates four Airbus A321 converted freighters, though it has indefinitely parked two aircraft due to insufficient demand. USA Jet operates eight active McDonnell Douglas MD-88 narrowbody freighters with an average age of about 35 years, plus one 36-year-old MD-88 and a 45-year-old Boeing 727-200.
