Goldman Sachs' equities trading operation delivered exceptional performance in the second quarter, posting a 72% revenue surge. Investment banking revenue climbed 55% to $3.4 billion, boosted by high-profile transactions including fees from SpaceX's IPO, a $25 billion bond sale, and co-leading Alphabet's $85 billion equity raise announced in June. The Global Banking & Markets division, which encompasses investment banking, equities, fixed income, currency and commodities trading, generated $15.5 billion in revenue—more than 75% of the bank's total quarterly revenue. The bank's Asset & Wealth Management segment contributed $4.6 billion, while Platform Solutions added $221 million. Goldman's strategic focus on cross-selling services between client segments and years of divisional investment positioned the firm to capitalize on heightened market activity.
