Google Cloud has joined Kuehne+Nagel's sustainable aviation fuel initiative, underscoring the cloud infrastructure sector's expanding footprint in air cargo operations. The pilot agreement covers 2 million litres of SAF, projected to eliminate up to 12,600 tonnes of CO2e emissions. The partnership enables Google Cloud to reduce scope three emissions while advancing lower-carbon airfreight capabilities. Brian Stewart, senior director of logistics at Google Cloud, said the collaboration supports the company's sustainability objectives across its logistics chain. Fabiano Piccinno, global head of sustainability air logistics at K+N, emphasized that the agreement reflects both firms' commitment to decarbonization as a business priority. K+N launched a dedicated forwarding service for cloud computing cargo in 2024, capitalizing on rapid data centre expansion and growing demand for specialised logistics handling of high-value, time-critical shipments.
