Google is launching audio smart glasses later this year through partnerships with Samsung, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, marking the technology giant's entry into the competitive wearables segment. The devices will feature Google's Gemini assistant and operate on both Android and iOS platforms. Google Vice President Shahram Izadi announced the initiative at the company's annual I/O developer conference, describing the glasses as delivering information "spoken into your ear privately, rather than shown in a display." The announcement represents Google's first major wearables push since revealing smart display glasses last year. The move positions Google against Meta, which has gained traction with its Ray-Ban smart glasses partnership. The launch represents a calculated bet during uncertain times for wearable device adoption and emerging AI form factors.
