Hong Kong International Airport is pursuing Vietnamese export shipments through a new road-air link connecting Hanoi to the airport via mainland China. Hacis, the value-added logistics unit of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals, completed an initial trial movement of coffee beans on a customs-bonded truck from Hanoi through the Wuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Guangxi province before reaching HKIA. At Wuzhou, the pilot used a Single E-lock electronic monitoring system that enables mainland Chinese and Hong Kong customs authorities to share inspection records and reduce duplicate border checks. The journey from Vietnam's border to HKIA required approximately 30.5 hours. Standard customs procedures apply when cargo enters China from Vietnam, while the Single E-lock arrangement begins at Wuzhou. Hacis indicated regular scheduled service remains contingent on shipper demand. The corridor offers exporters an alternative to direct air routes while providing access to HKIA's global flight network.
