Israel Aerospace Industries has begun Boeing 777-300ERSF passenger-to-freighter conversions at Ascent Aviation Services' expanded campus in Marana, Arizona, marking the program's North American debut. The first aircraft, from World Star Aviation's portfolio, has arrived for modification at the facility, which will operate two parallel conversion lines under a long-term agreement with IAI. The Arizona hub will serve as the primary conversion center for the region. It combines IAI's certified conversion technology with Ascent's maintenance and widebody expertise. The collaboration aims to expand global conversion capacity while bringing modification services closer to North American cargo operators. IAI executives highlighted the initiative as central to the company's strategy for strengthening its position in commercial aviation, while passenger-to-freighter conversions extend aircraft lifecycles and help carriers respond to shifting market demand.
