An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent faces criminal charges stemming from a January shooting in Minneapolis. Christian Castro was charged with four counts of assault and falsely reporting a crime in connection with the Jan. 14 incident involving Venezuelan immigrant Julio Sosa-Celis. Video evidence contradicted Castro's account that Sosa-Celis was attacking him at the time of the shooting. Prosecutors subsequently dropped assault charges against Sosa-Celis and another man involved in the confrontation. Castro is the second federal agent charged in connection with Operation Metro Surge, the Trump administration's immigration enforcement initiative in Minnesota. In April, ICE agent Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr. was charged with assault. The charge related to pointing a firearm at occupants of another vehicle during a February incident on a Minneapolis highway.
