Australian infrastructure fund IFM Investors is set to acquire a 68% stake in Associated British Ports, the UK's largest port operator. The transaction involves purchasing equal 33% stakes from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and OMERS, the fund's previous shareholders since 2015 and 2006 respectively. The deal value exceeded £10 billion, according to market estimates. IFM's acquisition prevailed over competing bids from India's Adani Group and financial investors Apollo and KKR. CPP cited the completion of its 10-year investment cycle as rationale for the sale, emphasizing the transaction's role in recycling capital toward new opportunities while delivering returns to contributors and beneficiaries.
