Inchape Shipping Services has obtained its Ocean Transportation Intermediary license from the Federal Maritime Commission, clearing the way for the global port agency operator to launch freight forwarding services in the United States. The FMC credential permits Inchape to function as a non-vessel operating common carrier, enabling the company to issue House Bills of Lading, consolidate cargo, and negotiate directly with ocean carriers on behalf of shippers. The company plans to offer full and less-than-container load services to both direct shippers and fellow freight forwarders. Regional leadership emphasized that the milestone signals operational compliance and financial stability, which are prerequisites for securing the mandatory OTI license. The move marks a strategic expansion into ocean freight intermediation for the global firm.
