A new platform is addressing a persistent challenge in freight logistics: the manual re-entry of ocean carrier rate information across incompatible formats. Shippers and forwarders currently spend significant time converting rate sheets from multiple document types—Excel files, PDFs, Word amendments, EDI feeds and email—into usable data. Ship Angel Labs has launched OceanRate to standardize this process industry-wide. The solution builds on technology originally developed for enterprise customers managing thousands of shipping lanes and dozens of carrier contracts. Those large shippers have cut approximately 85% of the time they previously spent on rate management. The new platform extends this capability beyond enterprise users to the broader logistics community, offering a single standardized format for ocean rates regardless of source document type.
