International Motors Exits Ohio with 1,341 Job Cuts as Roshel Takes Over

International Motors is divesting its Springfield, Ohio manufacturing operations, resulting in the elimination of 1,341 positions across two facilities. The Lisle, Illinois-based truck manufacturer has agreed to sell operating assets of the Springfield Assembly Plant and Truck Specialty Center to Canadian manufacturer Roshel. The transaction is expected to close in October, with virtually all affected workers facing termination. The Springfield Assembly Plant accounts for approximately 1,314 of the job losses, while the Truck Specialty Center represents 27 positions. Approximately 1,158 employees are represented by the United Auto Workers through Locals 402 and 658. The divestment comes as a major contract manufacturing agreement expires on September 30, 2026. Roshel intends to repurpose the 2 million-square-foot facility spanning 500 acres as a U.S. production hub for commercial, specialty and armored vehicles.
