International Paper marked the start of construction on a major corrugated packaging facility in Brandon, Mississippi. The $225 million greenfield project will expand the company's manufacturing footprint across the Mid-South region. The facility will encompass 468,000 square feet on 80 acres within the East Metro Center Industrial Park, situated less than 10 miles from IP's existing Richland box plant. Canadian Pacific Kansas City will provide rail service to the location, featuring an interior recessed rail dock for direct access. Operations are targeted to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, with existing Richland employees anticipated to transition to the new facility upon completion. IP said the modern plant will enhance manufacturing capabilities with an emphasis on safety and operational reliability while supporting long-term customer demand across North America.
