A supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude has resumed its journey to Vietnam following a standoff with US naval forces in the Gulf of Oman. The vessel had been held at anchor for several days after encountering American military operations in the region. Vietnam's state oil company pressed Washington to allow the shipment's passage, citing economic necessity for the country's energy supplies. The crude carrier initially attempted to exit through the Strait of Hormuz but reversed course before reaching the US naval blockade zone.
