The Jacksonville Port Authority has begun operating a new weekly container service linking Asian manufacturing hubs with gateways across Latin America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Mediterranean Shipping Co. deployed the Sapphire as the inaugural vessel on the ZCP-Amberjack rotation. The service connects major Chinese ports in Qingdao, Ningbo and Shanghai with Busan, South Korea, before transiting through Panama and Colombia to reach Jacksonville, Charleston and Savannah. It completes its cycle through Kingston, Jamaica and Cartagena, Colombia before returning to Busan. Transit times from North Asia average 28 to 32 days. The route provides transshipment connectivity to Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana and Aruba, alongside Mediterranean ports in Italy, Greece, Israel and Egypt. The LNG-powered vessels can be refueled at Jacksonville.
