Kenya Airways has secured its first ground handling agreement with FedEx, taking on cargo operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The carrier will manage the work through its subsidiary Kenya Airfreight Handling Limited, which handles imports, exports, transit shipments, and specialized cargo including pharmaceuticals and perishables at the facility. Acting Group Chief Executive George Kamal called the partnership validation of Kenya Airways' ability to meet international service standards. The deal underscores Nairobi's emergence as a critical logistics gateway connecting Africa with Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. The agreement aligns with Kenya's strategy to position JKIA as East Africa's premier cargo consolidation and distribution hub. This positioning comes as regional trade grows under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework. Kenya remains among Africa's largest airfreight exporters of flowers, fresh produce, and high-value perishables.
