Kodiak Robotics plans to launch unsupervised autonomous operations on a 219-mile stretch of Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston by year-end, partnering with furniture retailer Ikea for long-haul service. The freight market is showing stabilization after a prolonged downturn. Dry van spot rates averaged $2.17 per mile last week, down 1.2% from the prior week. The sector continues consolidating, while infrastructure investments expand capacity. SC Ports and Norfolk Southern launched daily intermodal rail service to Huntsville, expanding inland connectivity from Charleston.
