LATAM Cargo began weekly freighter service between Frankfurt and Antofagasta, Chile on May 23, marking an expansion into northern Chile's mining sector. The Boeing 767 freighter serves multiple stops, with 25 tons of capacity dedicated to Antofagasta shipments. The carrier will focus on mining spare parts alongside automotive, pharmaceutical, and general consolidated cargo. The direct connection bypasses Santiago routing, reducing transit times for time-sensitive shipments. Jorge Carretero, cargo sales director for Europe at LATAM, stated the service delivers tailored logistics solutions for the region's mining and industrial projects. The route addition reflects growing demand for connectivity to Chile's resource-rich north. LATAM Cargo Chile operates the service. The route launch follows the carrier's May announcement of twice-weekly Miami-Caracas freighter flights via its Colombian subsidiary.
