Loblaw Companies, Canada's largest food retailer with CA$61 billion in annual revenue, is rolling out automated gate technology across multiple facilities following successful deployment at its flagship distribution centre. The system processes roughly 400 inbound and 400 outbound trailers daily, completing each transaction in approximately three seconds—compared to 30 seconds to five minutes at conventional facilities staffed by gate attendants. The partnership with Markham-based EAIGLE integrates seven or eight API calls across systems including Manhattan Active, SAP, Blue Yonder, TruckMate and others. Wael Yehia, Loblaw's vice president of national transportation, emphasized practical improvements to product movement efficiency. EAIGLE chief executive Amir Hoss characterized the expansion as scaling proven operations rather than piloting unproven technology, positioning the gates as reinforcing existing workflows.
