Rising industrial activity and tightening truckload capacity are driving higher pricing across the US less-than-truckload sector. ABF Freight announced a 5% general rate increase on June 22. Parent company ArcBest raised second-quarter guidance after revenue per day and yield both climbed 5% in April, exceeding forecasts. The carrier reported a 3% daily revenue increase in May alongside approximately 16% yield improvement. Multiple LTL operators have upgraded current-quarter projections. The sector experienced its first sequential increase in average shipment weight in two years, signaling renewed industrial demand. Manufacturing activity strengthened with the Institute for Supply Management's May PMI reaching 54, up from 52. Saia, XPO, and Old Dominion all reported gains in shipment volume and weight, reinforcing industry momentum.
