Lufthansa Cargo Surges 27% in Revenue on Asia Strength, AI Demand

Lufthansa Cargo's revenue climbed 27% to €1 billion in the second quarter, driven by robust demand from Asia and cloud service providers. Adjusted operating profit jumped 26% despite volatile market conditions and elevated fuel expenses.

The division is executing an aggressive modernization strategy centered at its Frankfurt hub and recently consolidated two internal operations into a unified cross-border e-commerce logistics platform. Chief Financial Officer Gregor Schleussner said Tuesday the carrier aims to rank among the world's top three cargo operators by 2030.

Lufthansa Cargo controls 18 widebody freighters, including 12 Boeing 777s and six additional 777 capacity slots through joint venture AeroLogic. The division also leverages belly space across its airline network. Second-quarter demand expanded 3% year-over-year despite ongoing disruptions.
