Maersk Air Cargo Joins BARIG to Address German Air Freight Challenges

Maersk Air Cargo has become a new member of BARIG, the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany, as the association works to combat rising operational costs and bureaucratic obstacles facing the sector. BARIG Chairman Michael Hoppe said airfreight has become increasingly critical to German industrial supply chains, yet operators face excessive location costs and unnecessarily complex regulatory processes. Maersk operates a 19-aircraft freighter fleet serving Europe, Asia and North America, with its main hub at Billund Airport in Denmark and primary German hub at Cologne/Bonn Airport. Chief Executive Lars Jordahn said the carrier's focus on stable, predictable logistics supports time-sensitive supply chains and reinforces resilient air freight corridors. BARIG membership provides Maersk a platform to participate in industry development and help shape framework conditions for future growth.
