Container shipping resumed through the Strait of Hormuz following the International Maritime Organization's publication of an evacuation plan developed in consultation with Iranian and Omani authorities. Maersk deployed its 4,200-teu Maersk Baltimore and a time-chartered vessel outbound from the Persian Gulf, marking the carrier's initial transit through the chokepoint after security assessments cleared the passage. The company confirmed both voyages completed without incident. Maersk maintains three remaining vessels in the Gulf region, with plans for one further transit pending. The carrier reported delivering 44,000 of 47,000 containers initially bound for Gulf destinations, with 3,000 containers awaiting final movement. Other operators including Hapag-Lloyd also moved tonnage through the strait within the past day, signaling broader industry movement following the IMO framework's approval.
