Simulation technology and robotics capabilities are advancing rapidly in manufacturing environments, according to industry discussions at the Automate conference in Chicago from June 22 to June 25.
Engineers are increasingly experimenting with digital twin technology to model machine components and reduce deployment timelines and costs, said Brendan Sterne, chief product officer at automation technology company Vention.
Simulation software developers including Nvidia have partnered with major robotics manufacturers Rockwell, Fanuc and ABB to integrate their platforms with specialized robotic simulation tools. These collaborations enable engineers to achieve more realistic robotic motion within their digital environments.
The convergence of simulation software and physical automation allows manufacturers to streamline their robotics investments. Industry speakers emphasized that software maturity and cost-effectiveness are key drivers enabling broader adoption of automation technologies in production facilities.
