A wave of manufacturing expansion is reshaping production capacity across the United States. Companies are committing more than $3.6 billion to new facilities in recent weeks. Toyota is leading the charge with a $2 billion expansion at its San Antonio, Texas complex, planning a new vehicle assembly line with construction potentially beginning later this year and production commencing in 2030. The automaker's project is expected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs. Meanwhile, Japanese industrial supplier MISUMI Group unveiled MISUMI Americas, backed by a $1 billion investment vision to strengthen North American operations. The company will operate manufacturing hubs across the United States, Mexico, China, India and Japan. Walmart also advanced its vertical integration strategy, opening a $350 million milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas. The investments reflect a broader trend of manufacturers strengthening domestic supply chains and expanding production capacity closer to end customers.
