The Marzetti Company appointed Mark Carter as chief supply chain officer effective July 13, tasking him with advancing the specialty food maker's network optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.

Carter replaces Luis Viso, who will retire later this year after joining Marzetti in 2023. The new CSCO arrives from Schwan, where he served as executive vice president and chief supply chain officer overseeing supply chain operations across 18 manufacturing facilities.

Marzetti President and CEO Dave Ciesinski praised Carter's "deep factory-based operational expertise combined with broad enterprise-level supply chain leadership." Carter will lead efforts to simplify Marzetti's supply chain while driving productivity gains—initiatives the company has pursued over the past three years.

Carter spent more than two years at Schwan and previously held executive roles at Unilever spanning 18 years.
