Messina Line Launches Red Sea Service as Middle East Transhipment Demand Surges

Italy-based Messina Line is capitalizing on growing transhipment volumes destined for the Persian Gulf region. The carrier has introduced the Red Sea Express, a new India-Red Sea service connecting Nhava Sheva in India with Sohar, Oman and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The inaugural sailing is scheduled for August 27. The move marks Messina's second service expansion from India in under a year, following the October launch of its India-Mediterranean offering. The ro-ro specialist said the new service reflects mounting demand across the corridor and demonstrates its commitment to strengthening network presence through enhanced connectivity, increased capacity and improved scheduling flexibility. Secondary and niche operators are expanding Red Sea offerings despite ongoing security concerns in the region.
