Mexican freighter operator mas is pursuing growth despite tight aircraft availability, according to chief executive Robert Van De Weg. The carrier operates five Airbus A330 freighters across three regions: an Americas network centered at Mexico City's Felipe Angeles International Airport serving Los Angeles and South American destinations; European operations from Zaragoza (via Galistair, in which mas holds a 49% stake) serving a large fashion retailer; and four weekly China flights. Van De Weg, who assumed leadership in February 2025, aims to add one or two widebody freighters this year while targeting a fleet of 8-10 aircraft by 2030. The company is evaluating A350 and B777 production freighters alongside converted 777s for future deployment. Charter demand has softened following Middle East tensions as clients await fuel price declines. mas launched weekly Lima service in February and operates scheduled routes connecting Mexico City with Bogota, Quito, Santiago, Panama and Brazil.
