Mexico's heavy-duty truck manufacturing sector showed strengthening momentum in May, posting its best export performance of the year despite continued year-over-year declines. The country produced 14,543 heavy-duty trucks and buses in May, down 0.6% compared with May 2025, while exports totaled 11,938 units, representing an 8.5% decline from the prior-year period. However, shipments climbed substantially from approximately 5,000 units in January to nearly 12,000 in May, signaling recovery after a sluggish first quarter. The United States remained the dominant market for Mexico's heavy-duty vehicle exports through May. Secondary markets included Canada with 2,108 units and Colombia with 817 units. Industry leaders noted emerging growth in shipments to Colombia, Guatemala and Ecuador, which helped diversify the customer base across 13 countries.
