The Michigan Department of State suspended Detroit Training Center Inc. on May 14 for violations of the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act. The school charged students for commercial driver's license instruction hours they did not receive, violating federal Entry-Level Driver Training curriculum requirements and leaving trainees short of necessary qualifications to enter the industry. Located at 5151 Loraine St., the facility allegedly misled enrollees about promised instruction volumes. Additional violations included allowing students to sign contracts with blank fields that the school later completed, failing to establish written agreements before training began, and permitting non-designated representatives to execute student contracts. Record-keeping failures compounded the infractions, with documents maintained outside the school's established office location. No instruction may resume during the suspension period. The investigation remains ongoing.
