Nine Middle East airports lost 620,000 tonnes of cargo between late February and April, representing a 52% year-over-year decline. This finding comes from a regional assessment of conflict impacts on aviation infrastructure. April showed modest recovery with 312,000 tonnes handled, though volumes remained 43% below prior-year levels. The disruption eliminated nearly 20% of global east-west connecting capacity within hours, marking an event of systemic significance for international air transport. The nine facilities combined experienced revenue shortfalls between $900 million and $1 billion as both passenger and cargo volumes fell 55% against budget projections. Industry analysts expect recovery to follow a gradual trajectory rather than a sharp rebound, given the sector's fixed cost structures and long-term capital commitments.
