A container ship operated by Global Feeder Shipping sank in the Strait of Hormuz following a strike, marking the second major vessel loss since conflict erupted in the region. The 2,824 teu GFS Pride caught fire and went down after being hit, with all 21 crew members safely evacuated without injury. A second GFS vessel, the 4,350 teu GFS Giselle, sustained hull damage but remained seaworthy and reached safe anchorage under its own power. The 22-member crew aboard Giselle was unharmed. Both Singapore-flagged ships carried international crews. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said an unnamed container ship had struck a mine while transiting what it described as an unauthorized and dangerous route. The GFS Pride loss follows the sinking of bulk carrier Cape Dao, which was hit by two torpedoes on September 23 and resulted in one fatality and two injuries. GFS acquired both vessels' operations from Dubai-based Simatech Shipping in 2018.
