Severe monsoon storms battering India's west coast have disrupted operations at Nhava Sheva Port, forcing terminal shutdowns and capacity reductions this week. PSA's Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals, the port's largest facility following its Phase 2 expansion, suspended operations for nearly two days. A vessel accident involving ONE's Dalian box ship at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal compounded congestion challenges. Gale-force winds curtailed crane operations at facilities run by DP World and APM Terminals, while heavy rainfall flooded cargo storage areas and damaged goods. The Brihanmumbai Customs Brokers Association warned of delays in documentation clearance and container delivery. Container freight station operators cautioned customers of delays in container movement as weather conditions continue disrupting cargo movement, transportation, and clearance activities throughout the region.
