Mediterranean Shipping Company controls 45.5% of deployed container capacity on the North Europe-Mediterranean trade route, commanding 360,517 teu as of May 1, 2026. The Geneva-based carrier's dominance underscores its expanding footprint in regional services. Ten carriers operate regular liner services on the corridor, with seven major deepsea operators. MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk, Cosco, ONE, Zim, and Hapag-Lloyd collectively account for 97.3% of total capacity. Regional carriers Tailwind, Borchard, and Akkon Lines hold a marginal 2.7% share. MSC deploys over 164,000 teu on the route, with one-third allocated to its Levante Express service. This service features six vessels ranging from 8,500 to 9,420 teu, with the MSC Giselle at 9,411 teu being the largest in MSC's deployment. Maersk operates the region's largest vessel overall, the 9,600 teu Columbine Maersk, on its North Europe-Turkey service.
