Mediterranean Shipping Company has acquired a 51% majority stake in Transinvestservice Container Terminal at Ukraine's Yuzhny port, expanding its Eastern European footprint. The transaction has been finalized pending formal confirmation, with no price disclosed. DP World, the previous joint-venture partner holding an equal stake since 2020, exited the operation earlier this year. It sold its share and associated tugboat operations back to local operator Transinvestservice, from which MSC then purchased its controlling interest. The rail-connected facility operates 560 metres of berth with 14.7-metre draught and 600,000 teu annual capacity. The move marks MSC's second Ukrainian terminal following last year's 49% acquisition stake in Container Terminal Odessa through German operator HHLA. Container traffic volumes remain difficult to assess since 2022 operations disruption.
