Federal prosecutors charged Kristopher Lunsford of Henderson, Nevada, with six wire fraud counts and two money laundering offenses tied to a semi-truck investment scheme that defrauded hundreds of participants. The operation raised more than $105 million between December 2023 and May 2025 by promising investors weekly payouts of $1,000 to $1,250 per vehicle. Participants invested $25,000 to $40,000 each, expecting passive income from trucking operations. The SEC filed a parallel civil action alleging the defendants raised at least $127 million from approximately 765 investors nationwide since May 2023. The defendants claimed to operate a 2,000-truck fleet generating 260% annual returns. Investigators found approximately $75 million in new deposits went toward earlier payouts in a Ponzi-style structure, while over $25 million funded personal expenses including real estate and luxury goods. Only $2 million supported actual truck purchases.
