A New York resident entered a guilty plea July 16 in federal court for his role in an international cargo theft ring. The ring systematically targeted high-value electronics shipments. Raimond Cabrera De Leon admitted to conspiring to receive and transport stolen goods in a scheme that prosecutors say exceeded $1 million in losses. The case represents the latest development in a broader investigation that charged 13 defendants in February 2025. Authorities believe the organization stole thousands of packages containing iPhones, Samsung phones, iPads and related devices across multiple states. The FBI Newark Division coordinated the multi-agency investigation after documenting over 400 package thefts involving cellular devices throughout New Jersey during 2024. Court records indicate the operation assigned specialized roles—members accessed shipment tracking data, coordinated thefts, and managed resale channels. The criminal case continues against the remaining defendants.
