Nippon Express and Japan Airlines have established a dedicated weekly air freight circuit connecting Los Angeles with Asian distribution hubs to handle surging demand for semiconductor and artificial intelligence equipment.

The service reflects intensifying competition for high-value cargo as shippers prioritize speed for technology components. Meanwhile, capacity constraints are reshaping regional air freight dynamics. Disruptions at Saudi Arabian airports have reduced Riyadh's outbound freighter and widebody belly capacity by roughly one-third, pressuring carriers across Middle Eastern routes.

On ocean freight, transpacific spot rates declined 3% week-over-week on the Shanghai-Los Angeles corridor as the market transitions beyond peak season. Container freight rates from Asia to the US have softened following China's Golden Week holiday.

Carriers continue expanding digital services to capture market share. Silk Way West has placed capacity on major booking platforms. Emirates SkyCargo's South American network now includes seven weekly freighter flights, featuring expanded service from Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and other regional hubs.
