NJ Transit has launched a Request for Information to identify real-time transit communication systems that could modernize how the agency disseminates service updates. The initiative aims to consolidate disparate customer messaging tools developed over decades into a single, integrated platform capable of delivering consistent information across multiple channels. Currently, NJ Transit operates separate systems for station signage, public address announcements, real-time data feeds and third-party information sources. The new platform would unify messaging across the agency's mobile application, website, email, text alerts and digital station displays. NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri stated the effort would eliminate manual intervention across multiple systems and enable delivery of real-time accurate information. The RFI invites vendors to propose commercially available platforms and custom solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience statewide.
